Mr & Mrs Pose was founded in Sydney in 2011 by Jennifer Fisher to provide greater online access to beautiful clothing, props and accessories for Australian and New Zealand yogis and yoginis.
My partner and I have practised yoga for more than twenty years and treasure our daily, personal practice. A mix of Iyengar, Purna, broader Hatha and Ashtanga sequences keep us endlessly intrigued by the physical and spiritual lessons of yoga.
Why the name, 'Mr & Mrs Pose'? We like the humour and irony behind it but there is a personal story too. It originates from a yoga retreat in Bali. Our wonderful Indonesian yoga teacher referred to our asana as 'Mr & Mrs Pose'. "Mr Pose very good. Mrs Pose very good. Mr & Mrs Pose very good!" We laughed, loved it and have never forgotten Ketut.
Travelling to such international yoga retreats, events and conference, we found inspirational yoga clothing and accessories not available in Australia and New Zealand. We knew we wanted to bring these home as well as seeking out the best local products, even in teacher training! We are currently working on yoga teacher certifications ourselves with Byron Yoga Centre.
Our vision is to inspire men as well as women to practice yoga with their colleagues, friends and partners through strength of colour, choice and beauty.
We know that accoutrement does not yoga make. Hatha Yoga Pradipika (61-63) explains that, "Success cannot be gained by reading books, wearing certain clothes or by talking about it. Practice is the only path to success, of this there is no doubt."
